The Library is the catalog of instruments your account is subscribed to. Open any row to preview the survey, fill it in, and use Test Submit to see exactly what would happen on a real submission — scores and alerts included.

What's in the Library

By default, the list shows only active instruments — the ones available for assignment right now. Use the filter dropdown to toggle Show Archived; when on, the list also includes instruments that are no longer enabled for assignment but whose historical data is still preserved.

The search box matches against the instrument's title and short title. A small C chip next to a title means the instrument has been customized for your account (different title, description, or alerts than the shipped default).

Previewing an instrument

Click any row to open the Survey Preview modal. The preview opens fully rendered, pre-filled with dummy responses so you can see the layout and question flow without having to answer anything. The score area at the top reads Not scored until you simulate a submission — scores don't tick along as you change answers.

Test Submit

Change any responses you'd like to experiment with, then click Test Submit at the bottom of the preview. This simulates a real submission:

  • The score bar populates with the overall score and any subscales — the same calculation a real submission would produce.
  • If those responses would trigger any alerts (built-in or custom), an alert banner appears at the top with one row per trigger. Click a row to open the same Alert Details popup clinicians see in a client's record.
  • Nothing is saved. No survey instance is created, no notifications are sent, no integration events fire.

After a Test Submit, the footer button changes to Reset. Click it to clear the scores and alert banner and try a different set of responses. You can Test Submit as many times as you like.

Resources

Each row's Resources column lists files attached to the instrument — scoring guides, reference PDFs, training material. Click a resource to download or open it.

Editing a survey's title, description, or alerts is an admin task (Level 5). If a built-in alert doesn't fit your team's workflow, or you want a custom alert added, talk to an admin — see the admin guide's Library & survey customization article.

Adding or removing instruments is not done from the app. If an instrument you expect to see isn't in the Library, contact OutcomeTools support — the catalog of available instruments is managed centrally.
