Kiosk mode lets a client complete their kiosk-method surveys on a shared device (tablet at intake, waiting-room iPad, etc.) with just a PIN. This article covers the admin setup.

Level 5 only

Where to find kiosk settings

Kiosk is configured on the Settings page, on the Kiosk card.

How to enable kiosk mode

  1. Open Settings.
  2. On the Kiosk card, flip the Kiosk enabled toggle on.
  3. Optionally flip Require DOB (recommended). When on, clients must enter their date of birth after the PIN.
  4. The URL field appears with the full kiosk URL. Use the copy icon to grab it.

Using the kiosk URL on a shared device

Open the copied URL on the shared device and put the browser in full-screen / kiosk mode. The page shows a PIN entry; when the PIN (and DOB, if required) is valid, the device shows the list of pending surveys for that client.

Installing the kiosk as an app

On a tablet you can install the kiosk URL to the home screen so it launches full-screen with no browser toolbar. In Safari use Share → Add to Home Screen; in Chrome use Install app (or Add to Home screen). The installed icon reopens straight to this kiosk's PIN screen.

Important: the installed icon is tied to this specific kiosk URL. If you regenerate the kiosk key, the old URL stops working and the installed icon dead-ends — delete it and re-install from the new URL on every device.

How to generate a client kiosk PIN

PINs are 6 digits and unique within your account. They're managed on the client record, not here:

  1. Open a client.
  2. Go to the Detail tab.
  3. On the Settings card, find the Kiosk PIN row. Click the regenerate button to create a new PIN (level 4+ required).

Kiosk security and PIN uniqueness

  • PINs are unique per client within an account.
  • Requiring DOB adds a second factor — the person at the kiosk has to know it.
  • After a successful submission (or after idle time) the kiosk resets so the next client can use it safely.

How to clear a kiosk lockout

If a kiosk device hits too many failed PIN attempts, its IP is temporarily locked out. When that happens, the Kiosk card shows an Active Lockouts section listing each locked-out IP with its attempt count and a Clear button. Use Clear to release the lockout immediately if it was the result of someone honestly mistyping rather than a brute-force attempt.

Kiosk setup tips

  • Use a tablet or iPad with a kiosk-lock app for waiting-room setups — prevents accidental navigation away from the URL.
  • Regenerate PINs as needed — the Detail tab's regenerate button makes it a one-click operation for level 4+ users.
  • Post a one-page instruction sheet near the kiosk: "Enter your PIN, enter your date of birth, pick a survey, submit."
