No specific BestNotes permissions are required.

Setting Up Mobile Device Security for HIPAA Compliance

Mobile devices (cell phones and tablets) accessing Protected Health Information (PHI) must have two layers of security to remain compliant with HIPAA regulations. This includes:

  • The mobile device itself must be protected/locked by a password or PIN (as described below).
  • The software accessing PHI (BestNotes) must also be protected/locked by a password or PIN. BestNotes utilizes both a PIN and a password for accessing PHI on mobile software. For details on the BestNotes mobile app PIN, see Mobile App Login PIN Reset.

Here is how to set up your mobile device to have a security PIN or password protection:

Apple iOS (iPad, iPad Mini, iPhone, iPod Touch)

  1. Navigate to Settings.
  2. Select Passcode.
