Some vocabulary changes can be made in BestNotes to fit the needs of your program. These are all the customizations in BestNotes and the link, examples or steps to take:



Academics (Click HERE) - System Administrators can create a ticket for BestNotes Support to add / Change many features:

  • Academic Years (System Administrators can create a ticket for BestNotes Support to add / Change)
  • Class Categories / Academic Subjects (System Administrators can create a ticket for BestNotes Support to add / Change)
  • Periods

    • First name, Last name initial (John, D.)

    • Full name displays (John Doe)

Mobile App (System Administrators can create a ticket for BestNotes Support to change Signature Settings)

  • Method of Signing (Touch Device)This will allow the contact within BestNotes to sign documentation using a different form, not just a PIN.


Password Settings (Click HERE):

    • Allow Client Portal Pin (Allows clients to access their own information on the portal, NOTE: See Link/Unlink instructions first, Click HERE)
    • No Portal Pin (Hide the portal pin from all users. NOTE: See Link/Unlink instructions first, Click HERE)
    • Allow Multiple Apps (Allows the same portal user to have multiple active applications)
    • Default Import Tag (Sets the default Access Tag on import of an application) NOTE: Only one tag can be assigned no matter how many applications a company has.

Reports (System Administrators can create a ticket for BestNotes Support to add/create custom reports)

Other areas that can be customized are:

  • Referral category - the list of referral sources that your company uses can be added here.
  • Inactive reason - the list of inactive reasons your company would like to track can be added here.
  • Location - in Academics the location of your classes can be added to the dropdown.
  • Grade types - in Academics they types of grades you give such as homework, quiz, test etc.
